Biography

Sylvia de Leur (geboren te Breslau / Polen) was een Nederlands actrice/cabaretière. Ze werd in 1933 in Polen geboren, als dochter van de vioolorkestleider Tonny de Leur en de danseres Hertha Sommer. Op 12-jarige leeftijd werd Sylvia de Leur al assistente van een goochelaar. Ze emigreerde in 1948 naar Nederland en werkte eerst enkele jaren als schoonheidsspecialiste, waarna ze een carrière begon als comédienne/actrice. Ze debuteerde bij Kees Manders in zijn nachtcabaretshow Het Uiltje. Daarna ging ze op tournee met Benny Vreden, Berry Kievits en Gerald Walden. Begin jaren 60 trad ze op bij het Lurelei-cabaret. Na haar cabaretcarrière speelde ze eerst nog in een aantal musicals, waarna haar filmcarrière van start ginhg. Ze speelde in 1971 in de speelfilms Wat zien ik en Daniël. Ze was daarnaast in de jaren '70 te zien in de tv-programma's Pommetje Horlepiep en Mijn tante Victoria. De lust om te acteren verdween toen haar zoontje voor haar ogen onder een cementwagen terechtkwam en overleed. Bovendien was ze in deze periode ook verwikkeld in een echtscheiding. In 1997 kwam ze kort terug met de solotheatershow Glück? Wieso Glück?, die ging over de moeizame relatie met haar moeder. Sylvia de Leur overleed op 20 april 2006 op 72-jarige leeftijd aan de gevolgen van de spierziekte ALS.
